Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Sustainable Entertainment will present the UK premiere of Donald, the latest work from Stefano Massini, the Tony Award winning writer of The Lehman Trilogy. The production will run at the Ustinov Studio from 6 November to 5 December 2026.

The play charts the extraordinary rise of Donald John Trump before he became the 45th and 47th President of the United States. It explores his ascent through property development, golf resorts, hotels, the media and reality television, portraying a figure driven by an unrelenting pursuit of success.

Massini’s previous international hit The Lehman Trilogy became a global theatrical phenomenon. Its acclaim led to Massini becoming the first Italian writer in history to win a Tony Award, with the play collecting five Tony Awards including Best Play and being translated into twenty four languages.

Donald has been adapted and will be directed by Sean Foley, a double Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee. Foley’s stage credits include co adapting and directing Dr Strangelove, directing the Olivier nominated The Upstart Crow, adapting and directing The Painkiller starring Kenneth Branagh and Rob Brydon, and directing the Olivier Award winning Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense. He is also co director of Sustainable Entertainment.

Casting and further creative team members for the production will be announced at a later date.
