The Donmar Warehouse has announced its 2026 season, featuring three world premieres and a major revival, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sheader and Executive Director Henny Finch.
The newly revealed programme follows the current run of When We Are Married and the upcoming world premiere of Anna Ziegler’s Evening All Afternoon, which is currently in rehearsals.
The season opens with the world premiere of Mass, the debut play by Fran Kranz, adapted from his screenplay which premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
Directed by Carrie Cracknell, making her Donmar debut, Mass stars Adeel Akhtar, Amari Bacchus, Monica Dolan, Paul Hilton, Lyndsey Marshal, Rochelle Rose and Susie Trayling.
The production runs from 18 April to 6 June, with a press night on Wednesday 29 April at 7pm.
Set in a quiet room of an Episcopal church, Mass follows two couples brought together for a conversation no parent should ever have to face, as they attempt to reach across a divide carved by violence.
Next, Russell Tovey returns to the Donmar to star in The Guilty, a new thriller by Chloë Moss, based on the films Den Skyldige and The Guilty.
The production will be directed by Punchdrunk founder Felix Barrett, marking his Donmar debut.
The season continues with a major revival of Brian Friel’s A Month in the Country after Ivan Turgenev, directed by Lyndsey Turner.
The programme concludes with the world premiere of Ilford Boy, a joyful family drama by Danny Lee Wynter, directed by Tim Sheader.
Tim Sheader and Henny Finch said, “We are delighted to announce our next four productions coming up at the Donmar: three world premieres and a major revival. It’s always a pleasure to welcome back returning directors and writers; including this season Lyndsey Turner who will further explore her relationship with Brian Friel’s work.”
They added, “As ever, the stories we tell live on the Donmar stage are created to connect us all and celebrate our togetherness.”
Alongside the season announcement, the Donmar confirmed the continuation of its £20 ticket scheme for audiences aged 35 and under, alongside more than 1,800 free tickets for local schools.
Artists will also work in residence at five local schools during the run of Ilford Boy, while the Donmar’s CATALYST and PATHWAYS talent development programmes will continue to support emerging theatre-makers.
In addition, a new production of The Fear of 13, which premiered at the Donmar in October 2024, will open on Broadway in March 2026 starring Adrien Brody.
