Duckie Family Return with Duckie Family Legacy at Rich Mix

Duckie Family return exploring the roots of Queer People of Colour and the legacy they have left and continue to leave, behind. Redressing the misconception that People of Colour have no LGBTQ+ history of their own. Duckie Family Legacy calls upon inspirational ancestors and artists to create and produce an unforgettable night of music, dancing and performance.

Duckie Family Legacy takes place on Saturday 17 February, 2018.  As with previous Duckie Family events, the evening is curated by Kayza Rose & Campbell X.  Kayza also works with key organisations such as UK Black Pride where she is head of media.  Campbell X is a film maker and is creating something especially for Legacy, to be shown on the night.

Co-hosts are cabaret queens Mzz Kimberley and Sadie Sinner, alongside hype-man: Mr Black Branson.

Performances come courtesy of the fiery post-burlesque artist Demi Noire, renowned for her work with the Cocoa Butter Club, uncompromising performance artist Lasana Shabazz, Jacob V Joyce, with a signature blend of punk-infused verse, voguer supreme Kyle-London, drag delight from FKA, live art from Vijay Patel & as if this was not enough, the ultimate in hula hoop mayhem from Symoné.

Dancehall R’n’B, Grime, Afrobeats and old skool favourites create the quintessential Duckie Family soundtrack via DJs Kartel Brown, Pandemic and BBZ.

Offstage, away from the dance floor there’s a chance to experiment with tribal face painting and head wrapping, creating opportunities to be documented via photographs and writing by AZ Magazine, for future generations to enjoy.
