Last year’s Edinburgh Fringe hit The Worst Little Warehouse in London will embark on a UK Tour, including a stop at the King’s Head Theatre in London.
When 12 people live under the same roof in a converted warehouse in North London, what could possibly go wrong?
This kooky, fun and light-hearted comedy follows Lala Barlow and Robbie Smith as two wide-eyed koalas fresh off the boat, looking for the perfect place to call home. Winner of the Adelaide Fringe Best Cabaret Award and nominated for Musical Theatre Review’s Best Musical and Broadway World’s Best Cabaret Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, relive their year living at Daisy Mill as they discover high ceilings, bathroom baskets and very thin bedroom walls.
Based on a true story, the cabaret’s inspiration came about when the real-life couple were living in a converted warehouse in North London. Struggling with exorbitant rents and the city’s ongoing housing crisis, the pair lived with 10 housemates for over a year, discovering so many tales that were too good not to share. Co-writer and co-performer Robbie Smith says: “Almost every day something would happen in the warehouse and you would think ‘you just can’t come up with this stuff’ and eventually we decided that we had to get these characters on stage.”
Directed by Sarah Redmond (Songs For A New World, Tete-a-Tete Opera) and written by and starring Lala Barlow (Side Show, Southwark Playhouse London; Annie Get Your Gun, New Union Theatre London) and Robbie Smith (Bromance, The Other Palace London; On The Piste, Studio Jack; Musical of the Year, Stockwell Playhouse).
The Worst Little Warehouse in London will be at The King’s Head Theatre 21 May – 26 May 2019 as part of a tour.
