Award-winning comedy duo The Listies are back at the Edinburgh Fringe with their latest family-friendly show, The Listies: Make Some Noise. Known for their riotous blend of music, clowning, and chaos, Matt Kelly and Richard Higgins are Fringe favourites with a global fanbase.
This year’s show promises a “chaotic mixtape” of silly songs, inflatable tube people, and a poo-load of puns – all delivered with their signature kidult comedy style. With over a decade of experience and 11 award-winning shows behind them, The Listies are masters of making all ages laugh.
Catch The Listies: Make Some Noise at Assembly George Square (Studio One) from 30 July to 25 August 2025 (not 6, 13, 18–22 August). Tickets available here.
You’re bringing The Listies: Make Some Noise to Assembly George Square – what can you tell us about the show?
It’s a ridiculous musical comedy show for families, packed with silly songs, sketches, clowning, stunts and a PowerPoint presentation gone wildly off the rails. Expect fart jokes, inflatable wavy-arm guys, and a baby that looks suspiciously like Matt.
The idea is to make kids and their parents laugh as much as they possibly can in 55 minutes.
You’ve been performing together for over 15 years – how has your comedy evolved over time?
We used to perform late-night absurdist cabaret in Spiegeltents at times when only owls and jugglers were awake.
Now we’re on at 11:40 AM — a full 12 hours earlier and with significantly comfier shoes.
This is your 12th time at the Fringe – what keeps bringing you back to Edinburgh?
The Tunnock’s Tea Cakes, Edinburgh bargains, the guy in Palmyra Kebab who has been working there since at least 2008.
Also the castle, the crowds and the chaos (and honestly – the amazing support of House of Oz! Shout out to HOZ).
Plus, Matt left his pet rock Pooglet in the Meadows in the mid-2010s and we still have to find it.
Your show is described as “kidult comedy” – how do you strike the balance between entertaining kids and making adults laugh too?
Our extensive research has revealed that children and adults are in fact the same species.
And so we have decided to treat kids like the smart, hilarious people they are and hope that the parents can keep up.
What’s the wildest or funniest audience reaction you’ve ever had during a performance?
A kid stood up mid-show recently and shouted, “THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE SO FAR!”
Which was nice, although he may have changed his mind since then.
