Daniel McVey brings the world premiere of A Foot is Not an Appropriate Prize for the Tombola to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a surreal and interactive murder mystery set at a village fete.
Performed in drag as the formidable Lydia, McVey leads audiences through a bizarre investigation after a severed foot is discovered among the bunting and bake sales. What follows is a playful and chaotic whodunnit, where audience members are drawn into the story as suspects and participants.
Combining puppetry, drag performance and absurd humour, the show invites spectators to step inside the fictional village of Greenwold, taking on characters and helping to drive the narrative forward. As the mystery unfolds, the seemingly quaint setting reveals darker undercurrents beneath its cheerful exterior.
Alongside its comic energy, the piece also explores how truth is shaped and controlled, encouraging audiences to question authority figures and the stories they are told.
Written, directed and performed by McVey, this Fringe debut blends camp theatrics with sharp ideas, creating an experience that is both ridiculous and thought-provoking.
A Foot is Not an Appropriate Prize for the Tombola runs at Pleasance Courtyard from 05 – 31 August at 15:20. Tickets are on sale hereÂ
