Izzy Radford’s new comedy Big Dog premieres at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, opening at Gilded Balloon with a sharp and timely exploration of the true crime industry and influencer culture.
Following the success of her critically acclaimed debut Seating Plan, Radford returns with a bold new work that examines the ethics behind society’s fascination with true crime storytelling. The play centres on Eve, who lands a ghostwriting role for a major true crime podcaster, only to find herself increasingly entangled in the very systems she questions.
As ambition and morality collide, Big Dog delves into questions of power, authorship and responsibility, asking who gets to tell these stories and at what cost. The production uses comedy to interrogate the darker aspects of media consumption and the human impact of sensationalised narratives.
Directed by Zoë Templeman-Young, the show features a talented cast including Eleanor Cross, Lauryn Jenkins, Tumba Katanda and Izzy Radford herself. Together, they bring to life a fast-paced and thought-provoking piece that blends humour with social commentary.
Produced by Currie Productions, Big Dog continues the company’s commitment to championing bold new writing and emerging talent at the Fringe.
Big Dog runs at Gilded Balloon from 05 – 31 August at 18:20. Tickets are on sale here
