Irish actor and theatremaker Marty Breen brings their award-winning solo show BITCH to the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the Culture Ireland Showcase. Running from 30 July to 25 August (excluding 4, 11, and 18 August) at Pleasance Dome, this bold blend of stand-up, cabaret, and theatre is a raw reckoning with blame culture, complicity, and identity.

In a show of two halves, Breen performs as both the red-flag-waving “Stand Up Guy” and the chaotic, self-destructive “Bitch” in an open-mic battle of wit, rage, and reckoning. As the comedy fades and the Bitch is left alone on stage, the show spirals into a visceral exploration of fury, trauma, and the uncomfortable truths we avoid.

Directed by Jeda de Brí with original music and sound design by HK Ní Shioradáin, BITCH premiered at Dublin Fringe 2024, where it won the Radical Spirit of the Fringe award. It’s a sequin-clad, piano-pounding, gut-punch of a show that asks: what makes a “bad guy” or a “good victim”—and what do we allow to happen in silence?
