Recent Cutbacks brings Fly, You Fools! back to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe following a sell-out run, with its fast-paced live parody of one of cinema’s most beloved fantasy films.
Condensing an epic story into just 60 minutes, the production sees three performers and a Foley artist recreate the film shot-for-shot using physical theatre, live sound effects and quick-fire character changes. With a ring of props and inventive staging, the cast shifts seamlessly between roles, building an entire cinematic world on stage.
Blending choreographed mime, shadow puppetry and lo-fi theatrical tricks, the show balances affectionate tribute with comic exaggeration. Designed to entertain both fans and newcomers, the production celebrates the scale of the original while embracing the playful ingenuity of Fringe performance.
Director Kristin McCarthy Parker said, “We were completely blown away by the response… Fools strikes the perfect Fringe chord of incredible artistry mixed with resourcefulness and a lot of silliness.”
Fly, You Fools! runs at Pleasance Courtyard from 05 – 31 August at 15:00. Tickets are on sale here
