Review: The Importance of Being Earnest at Noël Coward Theatre

Alex Reynolds brings her solo debut In the Land of Eagles to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer, running from 30 July to 25 August at Pleasance Courtyard, Baby Grand. Presented by Natalie Allison Productions, the production features an all-female creative team, including director Martha Geelan and sound designer Nicola T Chang.

Reynolds, a London-based writer and performer, has previously appeared at the Almeida Theatre, Theatre503, Southwark Playhouse, Arcola, and The Pleasance. In this new work, she explores her relationship with her Albanian grandfather, taking audiences on a poetic and humorous journey through Albania’s rich but often overlooked history.

As the story unfolds, Her is guided by Grandpa through his homeland, uncovering truths about his past and the legacy he left behind. The play delicately weaves themes of national identity, resistance, and power with a deeply personal narrative about family and farewell.

Directed by Martha Geelan—whose credits include work with Patrick Marber, Guy Masterson, and Sir Trevor Nunn—and featuring sound design by the acclaimed Nicola T Chang, In the Land of Eagles promises to be a moving and thought-provoking addition to this year’s Fringe.
