Nadia P. Manzoor returns to the stage with Jerk Off!, a blisteringly funny and unflinchingly honest solo play that blends storytelling, movement and dark humour into a deeply personal narrative.

Following the death of her mother, a young Pakistani-British woman relocates to Boston, where she is drawn into the world of underground dance. There, she meets a charismatic hip hop dancer who teaches her not only how to move and take up space, but ultimately draws her into a complex and abusive relationship.

As the story unfolds, Jerk Off! examines cycles of power, manipulation and complicity, refusing to present a simple narrative of victimhood. Instead, it explores the messy realities of relationships and the ways in which personal histories, cultural expectations and desire intersect.

Manzoor explains, “My mother died when I was twenty. I fell in love with a man who hurt me at twenty-two. It took me two decades to understand those weren’t two separate stories.”

Combining humour with raw emotional insight, the show confronts difficult truths about intimacy, identity and control, while charting a path towards self-awareness and liberation.
