Recent Cutbacks presents KEVIN!!!!! at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a playful and inventive parody of a classic 90s family film.
Using puppetry, live projection and miniature sets, the show recreates the film shot-for-shot in a condensed, high-energy format. Four performers and a live Foley artist transform the stage into an entire house, moving through the audience and manipulating scale to bring each scene to life.
Blending a cappella music, physical theatre and live camera work, the production combines technical precision with a sense of fun, turning familiar moments into inventive theatrical set pieces. Crafted from recycled materials, the design adds to the show’s hands-on, resourceful aesthetic.
Director Kristin McCarthy Parker said the team wanted to “do something wildly different… particularly with puppetry and live projections”, while still maintaining the company’s signature style.
