My Grandpa Doesn’t Follow Me On Instagram: A Guide To Trans-generational Road-Tripping makes its UK premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, blending comedy and storytelling in a show about family, identity and connection.
Written and performed by Yoz Mensch, the piece is inspired by a real road trip from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands with her grandfather. Along the way, she recreates the journey through character work, physical comedy and multimedia elements, including real Instagram footage from the trip.
As Mensch shifts between the people she encounters, including her grandfather, the show explores what it means to withhold part of yourself from those closest to you. Set against a backdrop of shared memories and grief, it examines generational divides and the complexities of family relationships.
Balancing humour with more reflective moments, the production looks at identity, belonging and the decision to remain unseen, while capturing the unpredictable nature of a shared journey.
My Grandpa Doesn’t Follow Me On Instagram runs at Underbelly Cowgate from 05 – 30 August at 20:25. Tickets are on sale here
