Nesting premieres at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, offering a darkly comic and surreal take on care, family and mortality.
Written by Peter McCormick and directed by Ben Standish, the play follows Francis, a man living with Motor Neurone Disease, whose life takes an unexpected turn when a seagull proposes a body swap. What begins as an unusual offer soon raises difficult questions about autonomy, sacrifice and responsibility.
Blending magical realism with contemporary concerns, the production explores the shifting dynamics between parent and child when roles are reversed, and care becomes a defining part of family life. As the situation escalates, the show examines the emotional and ethical tensions that arise when facing terminal illness.
Presented by Trolley Problem, the production combines physical theatre, music and a striking central premise to build a story that is both provocative and inventive.
Nesting runs at Summerhall from 06 – 31 August at 16:30. Tickets are on sale hereÂ
