Get the confetti ready as One Hour Wedding arrives at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a joyful, chaotic twist on tradition, transforming the classic ceremony into a fully interactive theatrical event where the audience takes centre stage.

In this high-energy production, the only thing set in stone is the “I do”. From there, everything else is decided live by the audience, from the theme and music to the vows, choreography and every unexpected twist in between. With just sixty minutes on the clock, a room full of strangers must come together to create a wedding like no other.

Led by hosts Roz Pappalardo and Rachel Terry, the show draws on their impressive array of real-world wedding skills, from celebrancy and performance to event production. Rather than planning conventional ceremonies, the duo channel their expertise into orchestrating a whirlwind theatrical experience packed with humour, spontaneity and surprising emotional moments.

Each performance is entirely unique, with audiences shaping the narrative in real time. Whether it’s composing an entrance song on the spot or choreographing a first dance under pressure, One Hour Wedding invites participants to collaborate, create and celebrate together.

Rachel Terry and Roz Pappalardo comment, “We love weddings. They’re simultaneously personal and, let’s be honest, a little bit performative. Our new show, premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, One Hour Wedding, hands the big decisions to a room full of strangers and the outcome? Chaotic, funny, and occasionally quite ridiculous, but also genuinely revealing about connection, choice and how people come together.”

They continue, “Right now, when shared experience is more important than ever, we love the idea of inviting audiences not just to sit back, but to step in and make something together.”

Following the success of R and R Productions’ All Fired Up: an 80’s Mixtape Musical, this latest offering promises an evening of laughter, collaboration and heartwarming unpredictability, where every show becomes a one-of-a-kind celebration.

One Hour Wedding runs at Underbelly (The Friesian) from 5 – 23 August (not 18 August) at 21:50. Tickets are on sale here
