Playback premieres at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a new work exploring the realities of growing up online through the lens of lived experience.

Written and performed by Euan Munro, the show draws on his time as a child YouTuber, blending live performance with original footage from his early videos. What begins as a nostalgic look back at teenage creativity gradually reveals a more unsettling story beneath the surface.

Moving between past and present, the production examines internet culture, digital exposure and the unintended consequences of sharing personal moments online. As Munro revisits his younger self, the piece raises questions about consent, safety and the long-term impact of growing up in public.

Reflecting on the project, Munro said, “It wasn’t until I revisited my channel as an adult that I was able to see the experience for what it really was… Playback is my attempt to turn that lived experience into something entertaining, honest and urgent.”

Playback runs at Summerhall from 06 – 31 August at 13:20. Tickets are on sale here
