Edinburgh Fringe Review: r/Conspiracy at Gilded Balloon Appleton Tower (Ruby)

Your next digital obsession is coming to life on stage. r/Conspiracy, a brand-new solo show written and performed by Ella Hällgren and directed by Emma Ruse, premieres at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This sharp, funny, and unsettling production explores the chaotic underworld of internet sleuthing through the eyes of Alex, a 20-something who becomes obsessed with a Reddit thread about a machete-wielding man in her local park.

As Alex spirals deeper into the mystery, the show becomes a timely and thrilling reminder of the internet’s flaws and the dangers of unchecked curiosity. Blending dark comedy with psychological thriller, r/Conspiracy captures the zeitgeist of a generation glued to their screens and forever one click away from the abyss.

Presented by Emma Ruse Productions, the show is a must-see for messy girls, doomscrollers, and anyone who’s ever thought “just one more post…” With a focus on feminist and queer storytelling, this production promises to be both entertaining and thought-provoking.
