Edinburgh Fringe Preview: Remember, Remember! at Pleasance Dome (Queen Dome)

History gets a gleefully chaotic makeover in Remember, Remember!, a wildly inaccurate and joyfully irreverent retelling of the Gunpowder Plot. Packed with high-energy comedy, original music and outrageous characterisations, this new musical turns one of Britain’s most familiar stories on its head.

Focusing on the lesser-known figure of Robert Catesby, the show reimagines the events of 1605 with a distinctly modern and unapologetically camp twist. Featuring a colourful cast including a seductive Guy Fawkes and a tyrannical King James I, the production revels in its own absurdity.

Created by WIT? Theatre and directed by Alex Pritchett, the show blends sharp humour with pop culture references and musical spectacle. With an energetic score and a commitment to maximum entertainment, it offers a bold and playful alternative to traditional historical storytelling.

Rather than aiming for accuracy, Remember, Remember! embraces creative freedom, delivering a fast-paced and laugh-out-loud experience that celebrates theatre’s ability to reinvent the past.

Remember, Remember! runs at Pleasance Dome (Queen Dome) from 5 – 30 August at 17:15. Tickets are on sale here
