Themes of grief and death

K Media and Summerhall Arts the world première of SKYE: A Thriller, the playwriting debut of Sunday Times bestselling author and Olivier Award-nominated producer Ellie Keel. Directed by Matthew Iliffe, the production opens at Summerhall on 2 August, with previews from 31 July, and runs until 25 August.

Set on the hauntingly beautiful Isle of Skye, this chilling new thriller follows four siblings who, while on holiday, see their father standing on a beach—despite his death four years earlier. What unfolds is a gripping search for truth on an island where the line between the living and the dead is blurred.

This marks the first co-production between K Media and Summerhall Arts, signalling a bold new chapter for the iconic Fringe venue. Ellie Keel, known for producing acclaimed Fringe hits such as Callisto: a queer epic, SAP, and Bullring Techno Makeout Jamz, now steps into the spotlight as a playwright.

The creative team includes designer Rūta Irbīte, lighting designer David Doyle, and producer Natasha Ketel. The cast and full creative team will be announced soon.

SKYE: A Thriller promises to be a standout production at this year’s Fringe, blending supernatural suspense with emotional depth in a story about grief, memory, and the ghosts we carry.
