Talk Show And The Land Lay Still

National Theatre of Scotland and Lyceum Edinburgh Announce And The Land Lay Still Talk Show

Fringe First Award-winner and Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame inductee Mairi Campbell brings her acclaimed Pendulum Trilogy to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025, performing all three chapters together for the first time. Running from 2–17 August at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, this powerful trilogy blends autobiographical storytelling with live music and song.

The trilogy begins with Pulse, a journey through Mairi’s early musical life, from classical training to discovering her roots in Cape Breton. Auld Lang Syne follows, exploring the cultural and personal resonance of Scotland’s most iconic song, famously featured in Sex and the City. The final chapter, Living Stone, is a multi-sensory experience inspired by a 400-year-old millstone found on Mairi’s home island of Lismore, performed alongside the stone itself.

Each show stands alone, but together they form a rich, reflective arc spanning four decades of creative life. Co-created with director Kath Burlinson, the trilogy is a celebration of resilience, artistry, and the enduring flame of creativity.
