TO BE FRANK arrives at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, blending clowning, physical theatre and live music in a bold reimagining of a classic gothic tale.
Created and performed by Michael Hockey, the show follows Frank, a creature brought to life on stage who must navigate the world and its expectations. Through movement, audience interaction and a live guitar score, the performance explores what it means to belong.
As Frank begins to understand his place among others, the production examines themes of identity, connection and responsibility. When he creates life himself, the story expands to consider the emotional complexities of care and loss.
Hockey said, “There’s something raw and sympathetic… inside the big dangerous beast… and I think smashing the form of clowning up against that naivety is a perfect match.”
TO BE FRANK runs at Pleasance Courtyard from 05 – 30 August at 14:05. Tickets are on sale here
