Woodhill returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a powerful piece of verbatim dance theatre examining the UK prison system.

Created by LUNG and written and directed by Matt Woodhead, the production draws on first-hand testimonies from families who lost loved ones in HMP Woodhill. Through a combination of recorded voices and choreography, the show brings these stories to the stage with immediacy and impact.

Focusing on three families seeking answers, the piece explores issues of accountability, care and systemic failure within prisons. By centring personal experiences, the production highlights the human cost behind statistics, presenting a story shaped by grief, resilience and the demand for change.

The Woodhill Families said, “Our boys needed help, not punishment… We will not stop until our voices are heard.”

Woodhill runs at ZOO Southside from 07 – 30 August at 14:25. Tickets are on sale here
