US actor Amie Enriquez makes her European premiere with her one-woman theatre show, based on her own life, entitled Lightweight at the Underbelly Wee Coo for the month of August.  The show is directed by Lauren Weedman, star of US comedy drama ‘Looking’ (Amazon Prime), guest star of ‘Hacks’ (Amazon Prime) and ‘Euphoria’ (Sky Atlantic/Now). Last year ‘Lightweight’ won Best Festival Debut” at the United Solo Festival in New York.

“I don’t know how she managed to write a show that is both heartbreakingly honest and belly-laugh funny. If you’ve ever experienced or known someone who has experienced an eating disorder, this is such a loving, heartwarming and yes HILARIOUS real-life story”. – DARREN HAYES (ex-Savage Garden vocalist)

‘Lightweight’ is the true story of a complicated young woman’s attempts to survive anorexia and maintain a debilitatingly positive attitude in post 9/11 New York City.

As a last-ditch effort to recover from eating disorders, Amie enters a 28-day addiction treatment facility. Tortured by her wildly dysfunctional parents, a seductive cupcake, and the ghost of a dead music icon, Amie surrenders to the fact that the only place she has some control in her life is at the rehab center. As she approaches her one-year anniversary in treatment a new patient enters, disrupting Amie’s perfect recovery world and changing her life forever.
