Join Paddington Bear on his adventures as he leaves home, meets his new family and enjoys his first concert – not without causing his fair share of mayhem, of course! The charming tales of everyone’s favourite bear now come to life with storytelling, narration and a live orchestra.
From the producers who brought The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle Duck to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017, this enchanting children’s concert will appeal to everyone who loves the curious and cheeky bear.
Michael Bond and Herbert Chappell wrote this musical adaptation of Paddington Bear’s adventures in 1984. The premiere was given by the London Concert Orchestra conducted by Herbert Chappell at The Barbican in 1986 and, thereafter, the ‘Teddy Bear’s Concerts’ became immensely popular. The nation’s love for Paddington has never faded and now is the time to bring this exciting musical adaptation back to the stage.
An onstage narrator will guide audiences through this classic story, offering a wonderful introduction to live classical music with games and challenges that will teach children about instruments and the sounds they make. With exciting audience participation from the outset, children in the audience become a true part of this story.
Free for babes in arms, this is a show for children and their families.
Producer Jimmy Jewell comments, “We had so much fun sharing Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck with children and their families last year, we can’t wait to explore the wonderful world of Paddington Bear with songs, stories, music, fun and mischief!”
Paddington Bear’s First Concert is at Underbelly Bristo Square (Cow Barn).
