Five Star Review from Theatre WeeklyAdults Only Magic Show lives up to its very direct title. You are in for some riotous. comedy and an amazing series of tricks and illusions, but maybe leave Grandma home for this one. Sam Hume and Justin Williams are seasoned performers of comedy festivals, having toured their kids and adult magic shows all around the world.

Adults Only Magic Show is their newest show, which an energetic, fast paced hour of magic and comedy. Expect audience participation, off-colour jokes, and yes, some male nudity.

Sam and Justin pack a lot of tricks into one hour. At times they set up multiple tricks at once, only for some to be paid off much later in the show. Some tricks are deliberately made to look like they have gone wrong, only to be resolved to everyone’s relief later.

Their raucous style belies what is quite a tightly wound and well-organised show. If you’re into magic, the tricks themselves you will probably have seen before. There are card tricks, answer-guessing, some escapology, but each trick has a funny adult twist to it. A memorable part of the show is when Sam and Justin race each other to escape from a strait jacket and being bound to a chair with rope respectively.

The stakes are that the loser has a naked photo revealed to the audience, and this may be the only part of the show where there is no twist – this is literally what happens!

Trying to get suggestions out of a drunken Edinburgh audience can be a riot, but Sam and Justin are professionals who know how to banter whilst keeping the show ticking along. The show would be impressive enough presenting these beautifully executed tricks, but they are presented in a bright, funny, and filthy way, everything you could want from a late-night Adults Only Magic Show.
