Emily Lane will join the cast of the world premiere of Blessings, a darkly funny and emotionally charged new family drama by acclaimed playwright Sarah Shelton.
The production runs at Riverside Studios from 30 September to 26 October 2025.
Emily Lane, known for her West End roles in Frozen, Hello Dolly! and Les Misérables, will take on the role of Sally. She joins the cast fresh from leading roles in Anne Boleyn: The Musical at Hever Castle and Sleeping Beauty at the London Palladium.
This marks a shift for Lane, who is stepping away from musical theatre to embrace a straight dramatic role.
Set in a small English town in the 1960s, Blessings explores the cracks beneath the surface of a seemingly respectable Catholic family.
The play made its debut as a shortened piece at last year’s Riverside Bitesize Festival, where it received acclaim for its bold and honest portrayal of family dysfunction.
Emily Lane joins a cast that includes beloved screen and stage actor Gary Webster (Minder, Family Affairs) as Frank, and rising talent Freddie Webster, making his professional stage debut opposite his father.
Also featured are Jane Slavin (Call the Midwife) as Dorie, Hannah Traylen (Educating Rita) as Frances, and Milly Roberts as Penny.
Behind the polished front door of the Deacon household, secrets fester and tradition crumbles as the family gathers for Easter.
With a new boyfriend in the mix, a priest who knows more than he lets on, and long-buried truths threatening to surface, the Deacons are on the brink of collapse.
Blessings is written and directed by Sarah Shelton and presented by Artful Entertainment.
The creative team includes lighting design by Dan Terry, sound design by Andy Graham, and set and costume design by Alice Carroll. The producer is Justin Savage, with casting and general management by Denise Silvey.
