The Young Vic Theatre has unveiled its 2025/26 season, marking the first under new Artistic Director and CEO Nadia Fall. The season opens with a bold revival of Joe Orton’s Entertaining Mr Sloane, directed by Fall herself.

Running from 15 September to 8 November 2025 in the Main House, Entertaining Mr Sloane stars Tamzin Outhwaite (Abigail’s Party) as Kath and Daniel Cerqueira (A Gentleman in Moscow) as Ed. The production promises a darkly comic exploration of manipulation, seduction, and deceit.

Fall said: “I’m so excited to be directing Joe Orton’s audacious cult-classic Entertaining Mr Sloane. I was particularly drawn to the way Orton calls us all out, in a world where humankind is demonstrating a scarcity of both humanity and kindness. Orton’s dark play pokes fun at our incessant dog eat dog nature and still remains downright shocking, sixty-two years after it was first written.”

The play follows Kath, who invites the enigmatic Mr Sloane into her home, much to the disapproval of her brother Ed. But Ed soon finds himself equally captivated by the mysterious lodger. As tensions rise, their elderly father grows increasingly suspicious, recognising something sinister in Sloane’s past.

The creative team includes Designer Peter McKintosh, Lighting Designer Richard Howell, Sound Designer Tingying Dong, and Movement Director James Cousins. Casting is by Amy Ball CDG, with wigs, hair and make-up by Carole Hancock, and fight and intimacy direction by Haruka Kuroda.
