Felicity Kendal will lead a brand-new production of Blithe Spirit at Theatre Royal Bath in May 2027, ahead of a national tour.
Kendal will take on the role of eccentric clairvoyant Madame Arcati in Noël Coward’s much-loved supernatural comedy, running from Thursday 13 to Saturday 22 May 2027.
The play follows novelist Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth, whose lives are thrown into chaos when a séance accidentally summons the ghost of Charles’ first wife, Elvira.
Visible only to Charles, Elvira is determined to disrupt his new marriage, leading to a series of comic and increasingly complicated situations.
Kendal is one of the UK’s most popular actresses, rising to fame in the BBC comedy The Good Life and enjoying a celebrated career on stage and screen spanning more than five decades.
Her recent West End roles include Dotty Otley in Noises Off, Evangeline Harcourt in Anything Goes, and Judith Bliss in Coward’s Hay Fever.
The production will be directed by Lindsay Posner, following his acclaimed West End transfers of The Deep Blue Sea and A View From The Bridge.
Further casting and creative team details are yet to be announced.
Press Night is scheduled for Wednesday 19 May at 7pm.
