Figs in Wigs will bring their critically acclaimed production Little Wimmin to Soho Theatre Walthamstow for two performances only on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December 2026.

Written, directed and choreographed by the company, Little Wimmin is a live art adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel Little Women, reimagined through absurdist comedy, feminist performance and environmental apocalypse.

Following acclaimed performances across the UK, the production has earned recognition for its inventive approach, transforming one of literature’s most beloved novels into a theatrical experience that is both chaotic and original.

Wild, irreverent and cosmically comical, Little Wimmin dismantles the traditional literary canon to make way for the doomed future of humankind, asking how we think about the past, what’s wrong with the present and what we’re going to do about the future, if there even is one.

Using Little Women as a starting point, Figs in Wigs send the classic spinning off course before reshaping it into a theatrical cartoon catastrophe that explores climate change, astrology and the infinite nature of the universe. As the company teasingly notes: “P.S. Beth dies.”

Celebrating storytelling while questioning literary tradition, the production promises a shape-shifting theatrical experience that ventures far beyond its literary origins, inviting audiences to laugh at theatre, the climate crisis and perhaps even the end of the world.

Figs in Wigs are Alice Roots, Sarah Moore, Suzanna Hurst, Ray Gammon and Rachel Porter. The company creates genre-defying work that blends theatre, live art, comedy, dance and cabaret, with a collaborative and non-hierarchical creative process at its heart.

Both Soho Theatre Walthamstow performances will be BSL-interpreted by Becky Barry.
