STUDIOCANAL, LD Entertainment, Lucky Red and Magnolia Mae Films have announced that cameras are rolling on Elsinore, a powerful new drama based on the life of actor Ian Charleson.

The film stars BAFTA winner and multi-Golden Globe nominee Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers, Ripley) alongside Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown).

Billie Piper reunites with director Simon Stone following her award-winning performance in Yerma at The Young Vic. The cast also includes Johnny Flynn, Luke Thompson, Monica Dolan, Juliet Stevenson, Joe Locke, Adeel Akhtar, Matthew Beard, David Dawson, Kadiff Kirwan, Dickie Beau and Peter Mullan.

Written by BAFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee Stephen Beresford (Pride), Elsinore tells the inspiring true story of Ian Charleson as he prepared to give the performance of his life in Hamlet at the National Theatre while facing incredible odds.

Simon Stone, BAFTA-nominated for The Dig, directs the film, which is shooting on locations across the UK. Producers include Andrea Occhipinti of Lucky Red, Gabrielle Tana of Magnolia Mae Films, Pete Shilaimon and Mickey Liddell of LD Entertainment, along with Stefano Massenzi and Carolyn Marks Blackwood. Andrew Scott also serves as a producer.
