A first look at production images for Get Down Tonight has been released ahead of its London premiere at Charing Cross Theatre.
The musical, which runs from 19 September to 15 November 2025, celebrates the early life of Harry Wayne Casey (KC) and the friendships that helped shape the iconic ‘Sunshine Sound’.
Set in 1970s Miami, Get Down Tonight is a feel-good celebration of disco, funk, and R&B, featuring over 20 hits from KC and the Sunshine Band including “Give It Up”, “That’s The Way (I Like It)”, and the title track “Get Down Tonight”.
Developed in collaboration with KC himself, the musical features a book by Pretty Woman: The Musical writer J. F. Lawton and is directed and choreographed by Lisa Stevens.
The newly extended 90-minute show was previously staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024 under the title Who Do Ya Love?, where it received critical acclaim.
Ross Harmon stars as KC, joined by Adam Taylor as Orly, Paige Fenlon as Dee, and Annabelle Terry as Gina. Ensemble members include Aaron Archer, Eve Drysdale, Rachael Kendall Brown, and Finley Oliver, who makes his professional debut.
Harry Wayne Casey said, “There’s something infectious about dance music and the way it allows people to escape from the world and find themselves at the same time. I’m excited to share this show we’ve created with audiences in London, from the generations who were there with me in the 70s, to younger ages who just know me from the hits on the radio, in the movies or on TV shows. Everyone can connect to the music. We just wanted to bring that nostalgia to the stage and I wanted to show people a little bit more about who I am. For me, this is about telling the story of what helped shape my dreams into reality. It is a sample of life and emotions among four good friends in the early 70’s. After all these years, the music has allowed me to tell that story. Enjoy the music, the magic, the musical!”
The creative team includes Musical Supervisor Mark Crossland, Set Designer Bretta Gerecke, Lighting Designer Jai Morjaria, and Sound Designer Chris Whybrow. Costumes are based on original designs by Tom Rogers.
Production images showcase the show’s colourful, camp and retro aesthetic, capturing the energy and nostalgia of the disco era.
