DEM Productions has unveiled first look production images for The Book Thief in concert, ahead of its performances at the Prince of Wales Theatre on 26 October 2025.

The cast is led by WhatsOnStage Award winner Melanie La Barrie as Death, joined by Isaac Gryn as Max Vandenburg, Jack Lord as Hans Hubermann, and Cat Simmons as Rosa Hubermann.

Also featured are Leo Abad, Matthew Caputo, Oonagh Cox, Michał Horowicz, Thomas-Lee Kidd, Nell Martin, Corinna Powlesland, Gleanne Purcell-Brown, Edwin Ray, Timo Tatzber, and Russell Wilcox.

The Book Thief features a libretto by Jodi Picoult and Timothy Allen McDonald, with music and lyrics by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson.

The story is narrated by Death, who is haunted by humans and catalogues the colour of the sky at the moment each soul is carried away. It follows twelve-year-old Liesel Meminger, who finds solace in books during the horrors of Nazi Germany.
