Production images have been released for the UK premiere of The Story, Tracey Scott Wilson’s acclaimed newsroom thriller, which is currently playing at the National Theatre’s Olivier theatre until 24 October 2026.
Directed by National Theatre Associate Artist Clint Dyer, the gripping drama explores race, power and journalistic ethics through the lens of a high-stakes news investigation.
BAFTA Award-winner Letitia Wright makes her National Theatre debut as ambitious reporter Yvonne, who defies her editor in pursuit of a career-defining story.
Wright is joined by Aliyah Odoffin as Latisha, Ashley Thomas as Neil, Lorraine Toussaint as Pat and Wilf Scolding as Jeff.
The cast also includes Antonia Bernath, Josh Goulding, Jay Simpson and Unique Spencer, with Tee Arnold, Donna Augustin, Reanna Bleu, Katie Buchholz, Arianne Carless, Angelina Chudi, Linseigh Green, Roland Royal III and Matt Whitchurch completing the ensemble.
When a white teacher is killed in a Black neighbourhood, four journalists compete to break the story first. As new evidence emerges, they are forced to confront difficult questions about truth, responsibility and the cost of getting the headline.
Joining Dyer on the creative team are set designer Anna Fleischle, costume designer Natalie Pryce, lighting designer Paul Anderson, movement director Lucie Pankhurst, sound designer and additional music composer Benjamin Grant, co-video designers Gino Ricardo Green and Tal Yarden, wigs, hair and make-up designer Cynthia De La Rosa, intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon and fight director Kev McCurdy.
The Story is playing in the Olivier theatre at the National Theatre until 24 October 2026.
