First look production images have been released for the UK premiere of Jane Eyre, the musical by John Caird and Paul Gordon based on Charlotte Brontë’s celebrated novel, which is currently running at Southwark Playhouse Elephant until 24 October 2026.
The newly released photographs, taken by Victoria Davies, offer audiences an early glimpse at the production, which marks the long-awaited UK premiere of the five-time Tony Award nominated musical.
The cast is led by Charlie Burn as Jane Eyre and Ashley Gilmour as Rochester, alongside Claire Greenway, Melad Hamidi, Connor Wood, Jonathan Andrew Hume, Izzi Levine, Hannah Lindsey, Isabelle Methven, Gemma Page, Eve Shanu-Wilson, Poppy Jason and Emily-Rose Samuel.
Jane Eyre is co-directed by acclaimed RSC and National Theatre director John Caird, whose credits include the original production of Les Misérables and the stage adaptation of Spirited Away. He is joined by Broadway performer and director Megan McGinnis.
The production features choreography by Georgina Lamb, set and costume design by Morgan Large, sound design by Andrew Johnson, lighting design by James Whiteside, musical direction and supervision by Ben Kubiak, and casting by Sarah-Jane Price.
The musical reimagines Brontë’s iconic story of ambition, independence, mystery and love through a sweeping contemporary score, bringing one of literature’s most enduring heroines to a new generation of theatre audiences.
Originally premiering in Toronto in 1996 before transferring to Broadway in 2000, Jane Eyre received five Tony Award nominations. This new UK premiere is presented by Adam Blanshay Productions in partnership with original Canadian producers David and Hannah Mirvish as the musical celebrates its 30th anniversary year.
