The Donmar Warehouse has unveiled first look rehearsal images for its upcoming production of Intimate Apparel by Lynn Nottage, directed by Lynette Linton.
The production stars Emmy Award-winner Samira Wiley as Esther, a fiercely independent seamstress in 1905 New York who dreams of opening her own beauty salon while navigating the complexities of love and loneliness.
Joining Wiley in the cast are Nicola Hughes as Mrs Dickson, Claudia Jolly as Mrs Van Buren, Kadiff Kirwan as George, Faith Omole as Mayme, and Alex Waldmann as Mr Marks.
Intimate Apparel reunites Nottage and Linton following their acclaimed Donmar productions of Sweat and Clyde’s. Linton, who recently concluded her tenure as Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre, brings her award-winning direction back to the Donmar stage.
The creative team includes Alex Berry (Set and Costume Design), Cynthia de la Rosa (Wigs, Hair and Make Up), Jai Morjaria (Lighting Design), George Dennis (Sound Design), XANA (Composer), Gino Ricardo Green (Video Design), and Shelley Maxwell (Movement and Intimacy Director).
The production runs from 20 June to 9 August 2025, with press night on 26 June.
“Do you think there’s something wrong with a woman alone?” asks Esther in this poignant and powerful play that explores identity, intimacy, and independence.
