Band of Sisters Theatre has announced that Honor Santa Barnes’ critically acclaimed solo play Florence will transfer to Park90 at Park Theatre for a strictly limited London run following successful engagements at The Other Palace and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Written by and starring Barnes, the production will preview on 16 November before opening on 17 November and running until 21 November 2026.
Directed by El Blackwood, Florence is a darkly comic exploration of identity, ambition and belonging set within the contemporary art world.
The play follows an ambitious young woman determined to succeed, even if it means reinventing herself. Adopting the persona of the charismatic and well-connected Florence, she gains access to elite social circles and secures a position at a prestigious gallery. However, as the divide between reality and performance begins to blur, what starts as a clever act of reinvention develops into something far more unsettling.
Following strong critical acclaim in Edinburgh, where The National described it as “The best show at this year’s Fringe”, the production now makes its Park Theatre debut for a five-performance run.
Honor Santa Barnes will reprise her performance in the one-woman show, with El Blackwood returning as director and dramaturg.
Barnes said: “Since debuting the show at The Other Palace, Florence has received such a warm response and I’m thrilled that we are bringing this deeply resonant and timely work to the Park Theatre this November. Collaborating again with El and the wider creative team is a joy – their skill and ambition for this project is something I’m thankful for and I cannot wait to discover this play anew.”
The creative team includes set designer Ellie Wintour and composer Sarah Spencer.
Described as a satirical tragicomedy, Florence examines the masks people create for themselves and asks what happens when the identity they have invented begins to take on a life of its own.
