Three-time GRAMMY® winners KC and The Sunshine Band and producers have announced the full cast and creative team for the London premiere of Get Down Tonight, the official KC and the Sunshine Band Musical.
The production will run at Charing Cross Theatre from 19 September to 15 November 2025, with a press night scheduled for Tuesday 30 September at 7.30pm.
Inspired by the early life of Harry Wayne Casey (KC), Get Down Tonight is set in 1970s Miami and celebrates the friendships, love and music that defined a generation.
Developed in collaboration with KC himself, the musical features a book by J. F. Lawton (Pretty Woman: The Musical) and includes over 20 of the band’s greatest hits, such as “Give It Up”, “That’s The Way (I Like It)” and “Get Down Tonight”.
The cast includes Ross Harmon (Shucked, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) as KC, Adam Taylor (Cabaret, Playhouse Theatre) as Orly, Paige Fenlon (Pretty Woman, Piccadilly Theatre) as Dee, and Annabelle Terry (Scissorhandz, Southwark Playhouse Elephant) as Gina.
Joining them are ensemble members Aaron Archer (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat), Eve Drysdale (Fame the Musical), Rachael Kendall Brown (Pretty Woman) and Finley Oliver, making his professional debut.
Harry Wayne Casey said, “There’s something infectious about dance music and the way it allows people to escape from the world and find themselves at the same time. I’m excited to share this show we’ve created with audiences in London, from the generations who were there with me in the 70s, to younger ages who just know me from the hits on the radio, in the movies or on TV shows. Everyone can connect to the music. We just wanted to bring that nostalgia to the stage and I wanted to show people a little bit more about who I am. For me, this is about telling the story of what helped shape my dreams into reality. It is a sample of life and emotions among four good friends in the early 70’s. After all these years, the music has allowed me to tell that story. Enjoy the music, the magic, the musical!”
The musical was previously staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024 under the title Who Do Ya Love?, and has now been extended to a 90-minute format with no interval.
Direction and choreography come from Lisa Stevens, an Emmy-nominated artist with credits including Bombay Dreams, High School Musical, and 9 TO 5. Stevens has also directed the Victory Ceremonies at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
J. F. Lawton, known for Pretty Woman, Under Siege, and Blankman, brings his Hollywood storytelling expertise to the stage once again.
KC and The Sunshine Band have sold over 100 million records worldwide and were the first act since The Beatles to score four #1 pop singles in a single year.
