The full cast has been announced for the world premiere of Nero, the highly anticipated new musical from Tony Award-winning collaborators Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, which will run at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from 2 November to 5 December 2026.
Making his London debut in the title role is Andrew Barth Feldman, who stars as the young Roman emperor Nero in the new musical from the creators of Spring Awakening.
Joining Feldman are Stephen Carlile as Seneca and Sally Dexter as Agrippina. The cast also includes Nabi Brown as Octavia, Waylon Jacobs as Tigellinus, Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky as Poppea, Timo Tatzber as Britannicus and Liam Wrate as Narcissus.
Completing the company are Izzy Formby-Jackson, Jodie Knight, Rory Maguire, Zach Parkin and Amy Punter.
Directed by Lindsay Posner, Nero reimagines one of history’s most infamous rulers for contemporary audiences, exploring themes of power, celebrity, ambition and identity.
Set in ancient Rome, the musical follows Nero before his name became synonymous with tyranny, portraying him as an artist and performer navigating family conflict, political intrigue and the pressures of leadership.
Featuring a contemporary score by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater, the production aims to draw parallels between the ancient world and modern society, asking why the fall of Rome still resonates today.
The creative team includes choreographer James Cousins, music supervisor, vocal arranger and co-orchestrator Phil Bateman, musical director and co-orchestrator Ben McQuigg, designer Georgia Lowe, lighting designer Robbie Butler and sound designer Tony Gayle.
Produced by SeenSee Company and Park Myung-sung, with general management by Lambert Jackson, Nero will begin previews on 2 November ahead of a press night on 6 November.
