Pitlochry Festival Theatre, in association with Sonia Friedman Productions, has announced the full cast for its forthcoming production of Lerner and Loewe’s classic musical My Fair Lady, directed by acclaimed performer and director Maria Friedman.
The production will run at Pitlochry Festival Theatre from 21 November to 31 December and marks the closing production of Alan Cumming’s inaugural season as Artistic Director of the theatre.
Previously announced cast members Verity Power as Eliza Doolittle and Alan Cumming as Professor Henry Higgins will be joined by Loren Anderson, Martin Ball, Mairi Barclay, Zachary Barlow, Daisy Barnett, C J Benoiton, Juliet Cadzow, Robert Donnelly, Alex James-Hatton, Reuben Khan, Julie Legrand, Alexander Newland, James Probert, Thomas Sutcliffe, Scott Waugh and Lizzie Wofford.
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, My Fair Lady follows flower seller Eliza Doolittle as she is coached by Professor Henry Higgins in an attempt to transform her social standing. Since its Broadway premiere in 1956, the musical has become one of the most celebrated works in the genre, spawning the award-winning 1964 film adaptation.
Maria Friedman, whose recent revival of Merrily We Roll Along earned widespread acclaim and a Tony Award, directs the new production for Pitlochry. The creative team includes designer Tim Hatley, choreographer Ashley Nottingham, lighting designer Neil Austin, musical supervisor Joel Fram, musical director Ben Kubiak, orchestrator Alexios Priftis and casting director Natalie Gallacher.
