The full cast has been announced for Pride the Musical, the acclaimed stage adaptation of the award-winning 2014 film, which opens at London’s Bridge Theatre on 12 November 2026.
Presented by P&P Productions in association with the National Theatre, Pathé, Calamity Films and David Binder Productions, the musical arrives in London following sold-out runs at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre and the National Theatre.
Based on the remarkable true story that inspired the beloved film, Pride the Musical reunites director Matthew Warchus and writer Stephen Beresford. The production tells the story of the unlikely alliance between LGBTQ+ activists and a Welsh mining community during the 1984 miners’ strike.
A newly released video sees stars of the original film, Andrew Scott, Jessica Gunning, Imelda Staunton, Bill Nighy and Dominic West, reflect on the journey from screen to stage and introduce the company for the forthcoming London run.
Samuel Barnett returns as Jonathan, joined by Matthew Durkan as Mike, Gillian Elisa as Gwen, Daniel Forrester as Carl, Robin Hayward as Martin, Chris Jenkins as Gethin, Darren Lawrence as Cliff, Kirsty Malpass as Hefina, Madeleine Morgan as Debbie, Catherine Morris as Mrs Bromley, Sarah Pugh as Siȃn, Caroline Sheen as Maureen, Courtney Stapleton as Steph, Mared Williams as Margaret and Matthew Woodyatt as Dai.
New cast members include Ryan Kopel as Mark, Dan Hand as Bromley, Grant Neal as Mr Bromley and Carl Spencer as Reggie, alongside a company that also features Joe Boyle, Billy Cullum, Ben Heathcote, Michael Larcombe, Sorelle Marsh, Shannon Quarini and Samantha Thomas.
Featuring an original score by Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, the musical blends protest songs, pop, rock, disco and Welsh choral influences to celebrate solidarity, friendship and collective action.
Set in the summer of 1984, the story follows activist Mark Ashton and the group Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners as they raise funds for striking miners in South Wales, forging an extraordinary bond between two communities often portrayed as being worlds apart.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Bunny Christie, choreographer Lizzi Gee, lighting designer Hugh Vanstone, sound designer Bobby Aitken and casting director David Grindrod CDG CSA.
Pride the Musical is the inaugural production at the newly operated Bridge Theatre under Trafalgar Entertainment and follows a successful world premiere season at the National Theatre’s Dorfman Theatre earlier this year.
