Jermyn Street Theatre has announced full casting for its one-day, 12-hour staging of Derek Walcott’s epic poem Omeros.
The production will take place on Sunday 10 May 2026, unfolding as a relay performance with 30 actors appearing throughout the day.
The newly announced cast members include Michael Duke, Jim Findley, Valentine Hanson, Solomon Israel, Eloka Ivo, Gilbert Kyem Jr., Simon-Anthony Rhoden, Emeka Sesay and Fode Simbo.
They join Ronkẹ Adékọluẹ́jọ́, Selorm Adonu, Fisayo Akinade, Danny Bailey, Doreene Blackstock, Gabrielle Brooks, babirye buiklwa, Ashley Byam, Doña Croll, Ash Hunter, Terique Jarrett, Selina Jones, Paterson Joseph, Elander Moore, Tonderai Munyevu, Jessica Murrain, Cyril Nri, Ivan Oyik, Adjani Salmon, Cherrelle Skeete and Tienne Simon.
The production is directed by Jermyn Street Theatre’s Carne Deputy Director Kwame Owusu alongside Emily Aboud.
The performance is structured in three parts, beginning with Welcome to Saint Lucia: The Helen of the West Indies at 11am, followed by An Odyssey around the World at 3.20pm, and concluding with Homecoming at 7.30pm.
Omeros follows the lives of Caribbean fishermen Achille, Hector and Philoctete, blending mythology, history and contemporary life in a globe-spanning exploration of identity, love, trauma and memory.
Written by Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, the poem draws on classical epics including The Odyssey and Beowulf while centring Caribbean voices and histories.
This staging sees actors passing the baton every 30 minutes, creating what the theatre describes as a thrilling theatrical relay.
