Pitlochry Festival Theatre has announced full casting for its forthcoming production of Lear, a new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy by Finn den Hertog.

Scottish stage and screen icon Maureen Beattie will lead the production in the title role, with Forbes Masson starring as Gloucester.

They are joined by Lindsey Campbell as Regan, Ali Craig as Oswald, Ailsa Davidson as Cordelia/Fool, Jenny Hulse as Goneril, Reuben Joseph as Edmund, Beruce Khan as Albany, Mercy Ojelade as Kent, and Dylan Read as Edgar.

Described as a visceral exploration of power, legacy and family, Lear brings together some of Scotland’s most celebrated theatre artists.

The production is directed by Finn den Hertog, whose previous work includes The Fifth Step and Sunset Song, and is designed by Emma Bailey, known for her work on Six the Musical.
