Further principal casting has been announced for this summer’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar at The London Palladium.

Tyrone Huntley will return to his acclaimed, Olivier Award nominated role as Judas Iscariot. Desmonda Cathabel, recently seen in Hadestown, will play Mary Magdalene, while David Thaxton returns to the role of Pontius Pilate.

They join the previously announced Sam Ryder as Jesus and a rotating company of King Herods. The role will be shared by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Simon Russell Beale, Richard Armitage, Boy George, Layton Williams and Julian Clary across the 11 week run.

Jesus Christ Superstar will play from Saturday 20 June to Saturday 5 September 2026, with a press night on Tuesday 7 July 2026.

Audiences can also catch a first look at Sam Ryder performing Gethsemane when The National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals airs on BBC One and iPlayer this Saturday 28 March at 7.45pm.
