Route Voices

The Gate will be bidding a final farewell to its Notting Hill space with Route 27 – Voices, an unprecedented interactive exhibition celebrating the brilliance, originality and spirit of the theatre’s history in its first home on Pembridge Road Notting Hill.

The Gate original home in Notting Hill will be transformed for the last time into a very special interactive exhibition space curated by designer Hazel Low.

Featuring a recording booth and listening post, the Gate invites thousands of audience members and artists who have supported and contributed to the Gate’s extraordinary history to look back, share memories and hopes for the future in this farewell to the theatre’s first home in Notting Hill as it embarks on an exciting new journey in the heart of Somers Town, Camden.  New recorded messages from attendees will be added to the exhibition daily.

Shami Chakrabarti, Chair of The Board said ‘As the new Chair of the Gate, I am looking forward to welcoming friends on the next stage of our journey…. Route 27 is a special way of celebrating our history and looking forward to a future of radical, thought-provoking, global -local drama

Stef O’Driscoll, Interim Artistic Director said ‘The Gate is an instrumental and vital part of the theatre ecology and is on the brink of launching an exciting new era, defined by genuine access, equity, and artistic excellence for all. We hope you can continue to join us in this next chapter in our new home!

Route 27 is the direct bus route which journeys from Notting Hill to the Gate’s new home at Theatro Technis @ 26 Crowndale, Camden.
