As a statue of Millicent Fawcett was unveiled last week in Parliament Square Glenys and Neil Kinnock welcomed actors, directors and artists to the House of Lords to celebrate the book – The Stalled Revolution – Is Equality or Women an Impossible Dream?  By Eva Tutchell and John Edmonds.

Directed and arranged by Philip Hedley a group of actors read extracts from the book including  Allison Steadman, Sharon D. Clarke, Brian Protheroe, Martina Laird, Michael Elwyn, Susie McKenna and Dr Gilly Nash.

Co Author Eva Tutchell says ‘The best way to get across a message about the necessary cultural revolution is through a combination of The Arts and politics. The Arts affect us urgently and immediately.’ Co Author John Edmonds says ‘We explored the Votes for Women campaign and the Women’s Liberation Movement not just for the inspiring history but because we wanted to draw lessons for the creation of a new liberation campaign which is desperately needed to make Britain into a fairer, more equal and safer place for women and, eventually, for all of us.’
