Festival of Care at Harlow Playhouse

National Dance Awards Nominee Rhiannon Faith Company is working with Harlow Playhouse to host a free family-friendly festival in Harlow this summer.

The festival will take place every day between Tuesday 2nd and Saturday 6th August and will celebrate care in Harlow, highlighting some of the fantastic work that takes place in our community.

Activities will include lots of music, workshops, and creative opportunities, designed alongside Harlow voluntary sector organisations, arts and community groups.

The festival will include the premiere of Rhiannon Faith Company’s major new dance theatre show called 9 Acts of Care, which features local Harlow residents alongside professional performers. Live performances will take place every day next to the Bandstand. The creation process has involved centring the stories of local people, who have worked at the Playhouse throughout July to explore themes of loneliness and isolation.

Rhiannon’s company of professional dancers joined the cast in rehearsals this week and are looking forward to performing as the centrepiece of the wider festival.

Rhiannon, who has been the Associate Artist at Harlow Playhouse since 2018 says: “It has been a privilege to work alongside a group of inspirational and brilliant Harlow residents at Harlow Playhouse, exploring themes around care and community. They are making a very special show which we can’t wait to share with you. We are also shining a light on all the fantastic organisations in Harlow that contribute to a vision of care for their local people. Together we can creatively dismantle barriers that exclude and encourage belonging and care for all”
