The British Theatre Academy is to present The Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the global hit sensation Hamilton, at The Stockwell Playhouse on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 October.

Directed By Dean Johnson, Staging by Billy Cullum and Musical direction by Phillip Shute.

The rehearsed staging will feature a cast of 35 of the best British Theatre Academy performers and includes Isabella Pappas (Olivier nominated for The Nether, Annie UK tour, Lucy in 13 at the Ambassadors Theatre); Bradley Riches (star of Disaster! The Musical at Charing Cross Theatre); Lewis Ledlie (Brett in 13 at the Ambassadors Theatre); and Billy Nevers (Imaginary).

Award winning BTA is a performing arts programme that has inspired and nurtured the talent of thousands of young performers over the past 30 years. Over the summer the BTA presented Jason Robert Browne’s 13 the Musical in the West End at the Ambassdors Theatre to universal acclaim.

In The Heights features music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. Usnavi, the local proprietor of the corner bodega, is our guide through Washington Heights, a vibrant New York neighborhood full of striving immigrants and young lovers. When a winning lottery ticket is sold, fortunes shift, romance blooms, and hope springs eternal. Infused with hip-hop beats, salsa, and Latin soul.
