Francesca Moody Productions (FMP) has announced the initial casting for Tim Crouch’s acclaimed play An Oak Tree, which runs at The Other Palace from 7 October to 15 November 2026.
The production stars Tim Crouch alongside a different guest performer at each performance, with the second actor stepping onto the stage without having read or rehearsed the play beforehand.
The first performers confirmed for the London run are Hammed Animashaun (29 October), Bessie Carter (16 October), Rosalie Craig (9 October), Sacha Dhawan (23 October), George Fouracres (10 November), Clare Perkins (13 October), Tom Mothersdale (14 October) and Gemma Whelan (15 October).
Since premiering in 2005, An Oak Tree has become one of the most celebrated and influential plays of the 21st century, performed hundreds of times in more than 19 countries.
The production’s unique premise has seen more than 350 performers take part over the years, creating a different experience for audiences at every performance.
Previous guest artists have included Frances McDormand, Geoffrey Rush, Peter Dinklage, Mike Myers, David Tennant, Jessie Buckley, Russell Tovey, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Sophie Okonedo, Sharon D Clarke, Alanis Morissette, Toby Jones, Christopher Eccleston, Meera Syal, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Adjoa Andoh, Eddie Marsan, Nina Sosanya, Alfred Enoch, Arthur Darvill, Alex Lawther, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Luke Thompson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Michelle Terry.
The production forms part of Francesca Moody Productions’ new season at The Other Palace, which also includes Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible Is Going to Happen and Garry Starr: Classic Penguins.
Having previously originated Fleabag and Baby Reindeer, Francesca Moody Productions says the season celebrates original voices and boundary-pushing live theatre that first found success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before reaching audiences around the world.
Directed by Tim Crouch, Karl James and Andy Smith, An Oak Tree features music by Pete Gill, with Simon Crane on piano.
