Dixie Newman

Dixie Newman appears in the world première of Brandon Lambert and Martin Landry’s Fun at the Beach Romp-Bomp-a-Lomp!!

The brand-new musical sees Mark Bell direct Bradley Adams (Ensemble), Tom Babbage (Joe), Ellie Clayton (Mary Joe), Damien James(Dickie), Janice Landry (Chastity), Dixie Newman(Ensemble), Katie Oxman (Chickie) and Jack Whittle(Dude).

Writer Martin Landry completes the cast as the Announcer, with Composer and Lyricist Brandon Lambert taking the helm as Musical Director.

The production opens on 29 and 30 May at Southwark Playhouse Borough, with previews from 24 May, and runs until 22 June.

You’re appearing in the world premiere of Fun at the Beach Romp-Bomp-A-Lomp!! at Southwark Playhouse, what can you tell us about the show?

Six characters compete in the Beach Romp-Bomp-A-Lomp!! to win King or Queen of the Beach, but things don’t seem as exciting or enticing as they thought. Fun at the Beach Romp-Bomp-A-Lomp!! is an upbeat, hilarious show leaving audiences singing in their seats.

What was it about this brand-new musical that made you so keen to be part of the production?

We’re very lucky to have the opportunity to develop new and original characters. As part of the ensemble in the show with no real absolute character description, I’ve had a lot of fun exploring the comedy behind them and giving them characteristics that have come up organically during improv and rehearsals. I’ve had so much fun creating them with the rest of the cast!

What are you most looking forward to about taking on this role?

As the show is a new piece, and never seen before by people in London, it’s a real pleasure to be able to play with the audience and see how they react to the songs and direction. Nothing in the plot is obvious or expected, so it will be fun to hear their feedback.

And what do you think will be the biggest challenge?

As part of the ensemble and understudy, the biggest challenge for me will be really knowing the whole show and the characters I’m understudying inside and out.

What would you say to anyone thinking of booking to see Fun at the Beach Romp-Bomp-A-Lomp!!?

If you want to laugh your way through a hilarious, bonkers and romantic show, Fun at the Beach Romp-Bomp-A-Lomp!! is the one for you!
