Interview: Ferris and Milnes on Christmas Cracker at Riverside Studios

Greg Stewart by Greg Stewart
December 11, 2020
Home Interviews

Ferris & Milnes will be performing Ferris and Milnes – Christmas Cracker on 12 & 13 December at Riverside Studios.

Dominic Ferris and Martin Milnes are a unique combination. Dominic is a pianist extraordinaire; Martin has ‘two voices’. Together they combine comedy, music and vocals in a dynamic cocktail of explosive West End glamour and fun! They couldn’t possibly be planning madcap musical mayhem, merriment and mirth for Riverside Studios … or could they…?

Expect the unexpected, plus all the Christmas favourites you know and love, in this heart-warming, foot-tapping seasonal shindig. Further special guests to be announced. Tickets are on sale here.

You’re bringing your Christmas Cracker to Riverside Studios, what can you tell us about the show?

“Christmas Cracker” is a dynamic cocktail of explosive festive glamour and fun! Expect the unexpected – as well the songs you know and love.

How does it feel to be getting back on stage?

Utterly thrilling. There is no substitute for live theatre – you can sense the excitement from both sides of the footlights!

Tell us about the guests who will be joining you?

The show features a special guest appearance by 10-year-old “Cheer Up” Charlie, who captured the heart of the West End with his musical theatre-inspired  anti-bullying campaign. Charlie has thrown himself into the Ferris & Milnes performing style, so audiences can anticipate a surprise! This is definitely a guest appearance with a difference…

How have you both been keeping busy during lockdown?

We tried to keep as creative as possible, and during the first lockdown produced a music video – WE’LL MEET AGAIN 2020 – as a morale booster for the theatre industry. 22 West End stars – including Alfie Boe, Maria Friedman and Sharon D Clarke – filmed their solo moments in isolation; and we were very honoured to have Dame Vera Lynn provide an exclusive audio message for the film. It was her final public engagement before passing away soon after, at the age of 103.

Will your lockdown experiences feature in Christmas Cracker?

This is a purely escapist show – festive frolics and Christmas capers abound . It’s a chance for audiences and performers to leave their troubles outside!

What would you say to anyone thinking of coming to see Christmas Cracker?

Come and revel in the unbeatable experience of live theatre! The venue is Covid-secure, the stage is set, and on Saturday night you’re set for a cracker of a Christmas!
